About
ENERGEIA is a Greek word meaning “being at work.” This word was hardly used in the Greek language until Aristotle wrote Nicomachean Ethics circa 350BC. Aristotle uses the word in the sense of being engaged in activity to reach a higher state. For me, Energeia means being immersed in my own work, which right now consists of improving my education and understanding of current and historical political philosophies and economic theories.
My goal is to better understand the historical and current context of the principles that brought us the freedom and liberty we enjoy so much in America. Where is America headed based on the choices people are making today? What happened to the societies that have already been down the paths that Americans appear determined to follow? What choices do we need to make in order to avoid repeating history? Most importantly, how do we adjust as a nation and as a people when catastrophic events occur – as they always have throughout history – and change the character of our nation?
